Kuan-Rau Chiou was born in Taiwan in 1963. He graduated from School of Medicine, National Yang-Ming University, 1989. From 1989 till 1991, he served as a Military Physician of the army in Taiwan, from 1991 to 1993, he was a resident of Wan-Chiau Veterans Hospital, from 1993 to 1996, he was a resident of internal medicine of Taipei Veterans General Hospital, from 1996 to 1999, he served as a Chief Resident of cardiology of Taipei Veterans Genera Hospital, since 1999, he served as an Attending Physician of cardiology of Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, since 2004, he served as a Senior Director Teacher of Taiwan Cardiac Society, from 2004 to 2005, he is a Research Fellow at cardiology of Johns Hopkins Hospital, USA, and since 2006, he serves as an Assistant Professor of medicine at National Yang-Ming University. Presently, he is mainly interested in cardiac imaging including echocardiography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. He is also interested in lipid research, focus on familial hypercholesterolemia, including genetic diagnosis and treatment.
