Raquel Ferreira concluded her Applied Biology degree at University of Minho (Braga, Portugal). She then performed her Ph.D. studies with Dr. João Malva and Dr. Emília Duarte at University of Coimbra (Coimbra, Portugal), from 2006 to 2011, in the field of neuroinflammation, investigating the modulatory role of neuropeptide Y on microglia activity. Afterwards, she continued to determine the involvement of histamine and its receptors in microglia inflammatory responses with Dr. Liliana Bernardino for the following year. Currently, Dr. Ferreira is developing her postdoctoral studies in brain vasculature at the University of Southern California with Dr. Steven L. Giannotta and Dr. Florence Hofman.
