Maher Albitar

Maher Albitar is the Director of Hematopathology at Nichols Institute, Quest Diagnostics, San Juan Capistrano, Calif, USA. Before the Nichols Institute, Dr. Albitar was a tenured Full Professor at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Texas. He was the Head of Hematopathology and Molecular Diagnosis with joint appointment at the Leukemia Department. He has worked and published extensively on the biology, diagnosis and clinical correlation, and management of leukemias and hematologic diseases. He has authored over 220 peer-reviewed papers along with several book chapters. Moreover, he is the principle inventor of more than 12 patents. He had received the Physicician Scientist Award from the NIH, American Cancer Society fellowship award, and a fellowship award in genetics from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Albitar is currently directing all the work in hematopathology and heavily involved in clinical trials and research and development in hematology and oncology.
