Andreas Katsuya Lauer
Dr. Andreas K Lauer is a Member of the Association of University Professors in Ophthalmology Program Directors Council, Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Online Education Committee, Past Young Physician Member of American Society of Retina Specialists Board of Directors, Advisor to medical students interested in ophthalmology, and Reviewer of 12 journals. He completed his vitreoretinal medical and surgery fellowship training in 2001, and he completed his ophthalmology residency in 1999 both at Casey Eye Institute, Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, Ore, USA. He completed Internal Medicine Internship in 1995 and received his M.D. degree with high honors and outstanding distinction in 1994 from University of Oklahoma, Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City, Okla, USA. He completed a B.A. degree in French and biology at University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, USA. Clinical research interests are in medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, retinal detachment, macular hole, macular pucker (epiretinal membrane), and ocular trauma. Educational research interests are in ophthalmology residency and fellowship educational design, curriculum development, and intraocular microsurgical skills assessment.
