George C. Babis was born in Athens, Greece, in 1960. He received the M.D. degree (magna cum laude) and the Ph.D. degree (Summa cum Laude) from the University of Athens Medical School, Athens, Greece, in 1985 and 1993, respectively. Since 1992, Babis has been working in the 1st Orthopaedic Department of the University of Athens Medical School, as Clinical Fellow (1992-1996), as Lecturer (1996-2001), as Assistant Professor (2001-2007), and as Associate Professor sincr 2007. In 1999-2000, he was a Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic Biomechanics Laboratory, Rochester Minn, USA. Presently, he is an Associate Professor. He is mainly interested in adult reconstruction and is the Head of the Adult Reconstruction Unit in his department. In 1992, he was awarded with traveling fellowship by the Hellenic Association of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (to Paris France) and in 1998 to Methodist Hospital, Houston, Tex, USA. His is currently involved in clinical research (THA, TKA, Revisions, DDH), and he is the Primary Investigator in many multicenter RCT studies for new anticoagulation therapies and novel molecules (anti-sclerostin AB) in promotion of union in fractures. He is Member of 12 societies including EFFORT, AOT Alumni, Mayo Clinic Alumni, European Hip Society etc. He is Active Reviewer in many peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals and Invited Reviewer in other journals in the fields of his expertise. Dr. Babis has published 72 full papers in peer-reviewed international journals, another 25 full papers in Greek Journals and has authored 18 book chapters in textbooks.
