Richard T. Hammond

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA

Professor Hammond is an award winning physicist and author. Recipient of 4th prize in Gravity Research Foundation’s 2010 international competition for his work on torsion, a modern generalization of Einstein’s theory of gravity, Hammond has developed a theory from which we may finally measure this elusive field. Hammond also works in several other areas of research including optics and radiation reaction. In this latter field, Hammond has developed the equation of motion for a charged particle in an electromagnetic field with radiation reaction—a one hundred year old problem. Author of “The Unknown Universe” and “From Quarks to Black Holes” Hammond brings the fascination and passion he feels towards physics to the public.
