Matthias Pawlak is a Privat-Dozent at the Institute of Physiology, University of W ürzburg and a Professor at the Department of Physiology, Biochemistry and Hygiene, University School of Physical Education in Poznan. The research in his laboratory is focused on neurophysiological and pathobiochemical aspects of pain and inflammation in joints and muscles, pathophysiology of migraine, and on experimental models of investigating the mechanisms of nociception. Currently, together with his fellow researchers, he is focusing his research on the analgesic effects of physical factors used in physiotherapy and rehabilitation, especially the cold and the heat. Recently, his research has also involved the neurophysiological and biochemical aspects of physical exercise in sportsmen and elderly people.
