Hiroshi Uyama got his M.S. degree of engineering from Kyoto University in March, 1987, and his Ph.D. degree of engineering from Tohoku University in July, 1991. He became Assistant Professor at Faculty of Engineering, Tohoku University, and Assistant Professor at Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University, and a Professor at Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University. He received the following awards: May, 1995, Outstanding Paper Award of Polymer Journal, Society of Polymer Science, Japan, February, 1996, Outstanding Paper Award, Society of Oil and Fat Industry, Japan, March, 1997, Young Scientist Award, Chemical Society of Japan, and July, 2008, Highest Award, Japan Biotechnology Business Competition. His research interests include biomass plastics, polymer monoliths, and functional materials based on biopolymers.
