Pablo Carbonell is a Research Associate at the Institute of Systems and Synthetic Biology, University of Evry/Genopole, France. He received his Ph.D. degree in 1999 in control and computing engineering from Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, where he became Associate Professor. From 2006 to 2008, he was Staff Researcher at the bioinformatics unit of Fujirebio Inc., Tokyo, Japan. His scientific interests lie at the interface between biology and engineering. Carbonell has coauthored several scientific papers in bioinformatics including a new retrosynthetic approach to metabolic pathway design with applications in synthetic biology of cell factories and living foundries, insights into the origins and determinants of specificity, promiscuity, affinity, and efficiency in protein-mediated interactions, as well as other advanced topics on biological complex network analysis and prediction.
