Julie Scholes is Professor of Nursing at the University of Brighton. Her clinical background is in trauma and critical care nursing. He doctorate was awarded by the University of Sussex (1995). She is a graduate of the DANS MSc program of Manchester University (1985,1987). Her research interests include critical care nursing practice, competence acquisition, new roles and new ways of working, practice development, role and learning transitions affected by educational preparation. Latterly she has been working with colleagues to examine clinical decision making in the simulation laboratory. She is interested in case study methodology, grounded theory and in particular, dimensional analysis. She has a special interest in the ethics of field work in clinical practice. She is Co-Editor of Nursing in Critical Care and Editor-in-Chief for the Open Nursing Journal.
