Miguel A. Arias, a native of Úbeda, Jaén, Spain, obtained his M.D. degree from the University of Granada in 1995. He completed his training in cardiology and obtained the degree of a Cardiologist from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain, in 2003. He was trained as a Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiologist in the Arrhythmia Unit at Hospital Universitario La Paz, in Madrid, under the supervision of Drs. J. L. Merino and R. Peinado. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in medicine from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He also obtained the M.A. degree in cardiac electrophysiology and ablation from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, under the supervision of Dr. J. Almendral. He was later appointed as a Staff Member of the Cardiology Department, Hospital Virgen de la Salud, Toledo, Spain. He works both as a Clinician and as a Researcher, and his publications can be found in journals such as Circulation, European Heart Journal, Heart Rhythm, European Respiratory Journal, Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Europace, and PACE. His interests include atrial fibrillation ablation, supraventricular tachycardias, sleep apnea, cardiovascular diseases and cardiac devices. He is a Member of the Editorial Board of the World Journal of Cardiology, and he serves as a Reviewer of several international journals including Circulation, JACC, Annals of Internal Medicine, Heart Rhythm, Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, PACE, Europace, and AJRCCM.
