Andrea Zanini received his M.D. degree in 1996 from the University of Parma, Parma, Italy, and performed his residency program in respiratory medicine at the same University (1996 to 2000). Since 2001, he works at the Department of Pulmonology of the “Fondazione Salvatore Maugeri,” IRCCS Rehabilitation Institute of Tradate (VA), Italy. His present position is Senior Assistant as Coordinator of outpatient activities. Since 2011, he is “Ricercatore Universitario” (Assistant Professor) of respiratory medicine at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, University of Varese, Italy. He teaches at the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, and for Technicians of Cardiovascular Perfusion of the University of Varese. His research activities are focused on the study of inflammation and remodeling of airways in asthma and COPD (invasive and noninvasive techniques) and on the study of the exercise performance evaluation (six-minute walking test, in particular). His scientific activities include several peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals in MEDLINE and book chapters. He is an Active Member of the European Respiratory Society (ERS), American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), and of Italian Association of Hospital Pulmonologists (AIPO), and of editorial boards in the field of respiratory diseases. He is referee for international peer-reviewed scientific journals.
