Spyros P. Perlepes was appointed Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Patras, Patras, Greece, in 2001. He was previously at the University of Ioannina, before moving to Patras (1992) as Assistant Professor. He has spent more than 6 years abroad as Postdoctoral Fellow (University of Liverpool), Visiting Scientist (University of Antwerp, Belgium, and Indiana University, USA), and Visiting Professor (University of Florida, USA). He obtained both B.S. (1976) and Ph.D. (1979) degrees from the University of Patras. His research is focused on the cluster and polymer chemistry of middle and late 3d metals as well as of lanthanides, with emphasis on their magnetic and optical properties. He also works on the coordination properties of the amide bond. He is a Coauthor of 270 scientific papers in peer-review journals, including 5 reviews/perspectives/accounts, and a Member of the Editorial Board in Polyhedron and Spectrochimica Acta Part A. His H index is currently 28.
