Georgy Gimel'farb

Georgy Gimel'farb graduated from Kiev Polytechnic Institute, Ukraine, and received a Ph.D. degree in engineering cybernetics from the Institute of Cybernetics, Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and a D.S. (Eng.) degree in control engineering from the Higher Certifying Commission of the USSR, Moscow, Russia. After working in the Institute of Cybernetics for a long time, Dr. Gimel'farb joined the University of Auckland, New Zealand, in July 1997, where he is currently an Associate Professor of computer science. His research is focused on image analysis, computer vision, and statistical pattern recognition with the main contributions in the areas of computational stereovision and probabilistic texture modeling and analysis. He has authored or coauthored two books and more than 200 technical articles in professional journals and international meetings in the fields of pattern recognition and computer vision. He is a reviewer for several technical journals and a member of program committees for a number of international conferences and workshops.
