Annette van der Helm-van Mil

Annette van der Helm-van Mil studied medicine at the University of Leiden, Leiden, The Netherlands, and obtained her medical degree in 1998 (cum laude). In 2005, she got her qualification as an internist, and in 2006, she was ratified as a rheumatologist. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in 2006 (cum laude) on the thesis entiltled “Genetics, autoantibodies and clinical features in understanding and predicting rheumatoid arthritis” at the Leiden University. She is the Head of the outpatient clinic at the Department of Rheumatology of the LUMC (Head Professor T. W. J. Huizinga). Her current research interest includes early arthritis and its disease outcome and the development of RA and teh severity of the course of RA. She focusses on pathogenetic factors (genetic factors in particular) as well as predictive factors.
