Pedro Avila-Pérez is the Manager of Environmental Science Division, National Institute for Nuclear Research. He holds a B.S. degree in biology, an M.S. degree in ecology, and a Ph.D. degree in engineering (water science). His studies include evaluation of pollution in body waters, heavy metals transport, accumulation of heavy metals in aquatic organism, and applications of nuclear analytical techniques in environmental, health and related sciences. He is a Member of the National System of Researchers from Mexico and the President of the Advisory Council for protection of the biodiversity and sustainable development of the State of Mexico.
