Paolo Marcellini obtained a degree in mathematics from Rome 1. Ph.D. Program at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy. He works as a Full Professor at the Universities of Naples and Rome 2, and currently he holds the same position at the University of Firenze, Italy. He serves as the Scientific Coordinator of the Ph.D. Program and as the Director of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Firenze. He is a Member of the Direction Board of the Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica (INdAM) in Rome. He serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Firenze and as a Visiting Professor at several Institutions in Italy and abroad. His main scientific interests are elliptic pde's, variational inequalities, convex analysis, G-convergence, homogenization, eigenvalues of the Laplacian, parabolic mean curvature equation, nonconvex problems of the calculus of variations, semicontinuity of quasiconvex integrals, regularity under nonstandard growth conditions (i.e., anisotropic, p-q, and general growth conditions), vector-valued variational problems without quasiconvexity conditions, pde equations and systems of implicit type, and Jacobian determinants of singular maps.
