Michael W. Stewart

Michael W. Stewart is a vitreoretinal surgeon at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla, USA. He graduated with honors from the Harvard College with a degree in Chemistry in 1979 and from the McGill University with an M.D. degree in 1983. He served as an Internal Medicine intern at the Jackson Memorial Hospital and as an Ophthalmology Resident at the Emory University. Following this, he did Vitreoretinal Fellowships at the Touro Infirmary in New Orleans and the University of California, Davis, calif, USA. After 10 years in private practice, he joined the Mayo Clinic in 1999 and currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and the Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology. His research interests include macular degeneration, infectious retinitis, and mathematical modeling of ocular diseases and treatments.
