Emmanuelle A CHARAFE-JAUFFRET is Associate Professor of Breast Pathology at Institut Paoli-Calmettes and Universite de la Mediterranée in Marseille, France. She serves in Federal Government public advisory committee for breast cancer guide (HAS) (French pathology Society, in Federal Government public advisory committee for breast cancer and environment “Expertise Collective cancer et environnement” (INSERM/afsset), Federal Government public advisory committee for GIS IBiSA (Infrastructures en Biologie Santé et Agronomie) and CCRB (Comité Consultatif sur les Ressources Biologiques, FP7 expert for IMI calls, a European Review Panel on "Molecular biomarkers - accelerating cancer therapy development and refining patient care"- and "New tools for target validation to improve drug efficacy" (www.imi.europa.eu) She is a member of the ISSCR (International Society for Stem Cell Research) Her research interests are focused on breast cancer diagnosis, prediction of prognosis, with a particular interest in breast cancer stem cells field (characterization, markers, role...). She teaches breast pathology in marseille's medical school She leads a group in marseille's cancer research center (CRCM) that investigates the role of breast cancer stem cells in breast cancer progression, metastasis, response to therapy.
