Ignacio Gonzalez Burgos

Ignacio Gonzalez Burgos became a biologist in 1984. He achieved his M.S. degree in cell biology in 1990 from the Universidad de Guadalajara and his Ph.D. degree in biomedical sciences in 1997 from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Burgos was an Associate Researcher from 1993 to 2002 and has been a Senior Researcher since 2002 in the Western Biomedical Research Center, Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social. He has also been a Senior Professor in the Universidad de Guadalajara since 1984. Plastic changes mediated by dendritic spines that underlie synaptic organization of information related to learning and memory as well as the regulatory role of neurotransmitters in synaptic plasticity are the main subjects of scientific interest.
