Harry D. Kambezidis is a holder of many university degrees. He received a B.S. degree in physics and B.Eng. degree in electrical engineering, a Diploma in computer programming, an M.S. and M.Phil. degrees in microwave communications engineering, and a Ph.D. degree in atmospheric physics. He entered the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) in 1981 as an Assistant. In 1989, he became a Research Assistant, in 1996 a Senior Researcher, and in 2000 a Research Director at NOA. He leads the Atmospheric Research Team and also directs the Actinometric Station of NOA. Kambezidis has 149 publications in scientific journals and 172 in scientific conferences, while he has contributed to 32 technical reports. He is also the author/coauthor of solar radiation chapters in 3 books published by Architectural Press (1997), Elsevier (2004), and Springer Verlag (2008); air pollution chapters in 4 books published in NATO Scientific Publications (1997), NATO Science Series IV (2003), and Hellenic Open University (2004); atmospheric aerosols book published by Nova Science Publishers (2009). He has been the Guest Editor for the special issue 39 of the Journal of Applied Meteorology in 2000 and the Lead Guest Editor of the special issue on atmospheric aerosols and climate change of Advances in Meteorology in 2010. Kambezidis has received several grants from the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst for 1992, from the British Council in Athens within 1993, 1994, 1996-1997, and 1997-1998, and from the Air & Waste Management Association, USA. He has participated in 45 projects, while being the project leader in 14 of them. He has organized several international scientific conferences for air pollution, physics, daylight, and urban nightscape, while he supervised 31 B.S., 19 M.S., and 10 Ph.D. projects. He has acted as the President of the Hellenic Physicists Union (1999-2000), President of the Hellenic Illumination Committee (2003–2006, 2006–2010), and Member of the Administration Board of the Centre of Renewable Energy Sources in Greece (2004–2007, 2007–2010).
