Shang-Hong Lai received B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1986 and 1988, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA, in 1995. In 1995, he joined Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton, NJ, USA, as a Member of Technical Staff. Then, Dr. Lai returned to Taiwan to be appointed as a Faculty Member in the Department of Computer Science at the National Tsing Hua University, in 1999. Lai currently serves as a Professor at the same department and Director of the Computer and Communication Center at the same university. His research interests include computer vision, image/video processing, medical imaging, and multimedia signal processing. He has authored more than 200 papers published in the related international journals and conferences. Dr. Lai has been serving as a Member of program committees of several international conferences, including Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), Pacific-Rim Symposium on Image and Video Technology (PSIVT), and Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME). He has been serving as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Signal Processing Systems since 2010. Moreover, he also served as a Guest Editor for special issues in the Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation as well as the Journal of Signal Processing Systems.
