Shang-Hong Lai received B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1986 and 1988 respectively, and a Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Florida, Gainesville, USA, in 1995. In 1995, he joined Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton, New Jersey, as a member of Technical Staff. Dr. Lai returned to Taiwan to be appointed as a Faculty Member in the Department of Computer Science, at the National Tsing Hua University, in 1999. He is currently a Professor in the same department and the director of the Computer and Communication Center in the university. His research interests include computer vision, image/video processing, medical imaging, and multimedia signal processing. He has authored more than 200 papers published in the related international journals and conferences. Dr. Lai has been a member of program committees of several international conferences, including CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ACCV, ICPR, PSIVT and ICME. He has been an associate editor for the Journal of Signal Processing Systems since 2010. Moreover, he also served as a guest editor for special issues in the Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation as well as Journal of Signal Processing Systems.
