Toru Watanabe serves as an Associate Chief at the Department of Pediatrics, Niigata City General Hospital in Niigata, Japan. He graduated from Niigata University School of Medicine in 1985, Niigata, Japan, and has been working at the Department of Pediatrics, Niigata City General Hospital, until now. He joined the Department of Cell Biology, Institute of Nephrology, Faculty of Medicine, Niigata University, from 1997 to 2001, as a Guest Researcher and got a Ph.D. degree in 2002. His specialty is mainly pediatric nephrology, especially renal tubular disorders. He was given the Plenary Presentation Award in 1994 and the Best Clinical Research Award in 1999 from the Japanese Society for Pediatric Nephrology, an honorary title of leading article, for his article in 2013 from the European Journal of Pediatrics, a key scientific article, featured in Global Medical Discovery (Canada) in 2013, and a cutting-edge biomedical research, featured in World Biomedical Frontiers (USA), 2013. During his career, he published more than 80 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He served as a reviewer for more than 40 international journals and has reviewed more than 190 manuscripts submitted to international journals. He acts as an Editorial Board Member of Journal of Translational Internal Medicine, Journal of Nephrology and Urology, Austin Journal of Nephrology and Hypertension, Journal of Urology and Research, Austin Journal of Clinical Medicine, World Journal of Nephrology, World Journal of Clinical Pediatrics, Japanese Journal of Pediatric Nephrology, American Journal of Science and Technology, and Journal of Pediatric Biochemistry, a Section Editor of Pediatric Nephrology, and an Advisory Board Member of Open Access Journal of Science and Technology.
