Ravi Bhargava was born in Ottawa, Canada. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Ottawa in 1987. He has certification (FRCPC) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in diagnostic radiology in 1993 and a second FRCPC (Founder) in pediatric radiology. He completed two fellowships: one in MRI from the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis and a second in pediatric radiology from the University of Tennessee. He joined the faculty of the University of Alberta in 1995 and is presently an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging. He is mainly interested in novel applications of MRI in the imaging of children and foetuses. He and his graduate students have won many research awards including the Caffey Award for best poster presentation at the Society of Pediatric Radiology meeting and the CORS Founder Medal for the best research paper at the joint meeting of the Canadian and American Orthopedic associations. In 2007, he was honored with the Young investigator of the year Award by the Canadian Association of Radiologists.
