George M. Yousef
George M. Yousef, holder of the M.D, Ph.D., FRCPC (path), M.S. degrees, is currently a pathologist and a Scientist at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, St. Michael’s Hospital, and an Associate Professor at the Department of Laboratory Medicine, School of Graduate Studies and the Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Toronto. He is also the Director of postgraduate research at the Department of Laboratory Medicine. Currently, his research laboratory at St. Michael’s Hospital is one of the leading laboratories in Canada that is focusing on the cancer biomarkers in urologic tumors including renal cell carcinoma and prostate cancer using an integrated genomic, quantitative proteomic, transcriptomic and miRNA approaches with extensive bioinformatics analysis, with a number of national and international collaborators. In addition, he also published extensively about the discovery of kallikrein family of tumor markers and their roles in cancer. He has over 140 published research papers, review articles, and book chapters. He serves as a reviewer for many national and international granting agencies. He is an Associate Editor and a Reviewer for over 40 journals. He is also a founding Member of the International Scientific Committee of Kallikreins and a Member of the international committee that developed a comprehensive nomenclature for serine proteases with homology to tissue kallikreins. He is also an invited speaker in a number of international conferences and highly ranked academic institutions in Canada, USA, and Europe.
