Qingdong Zhong achieved a B.S. degree from Hunan University, China, in 1991, an M.S. degree from Hunan University, China, in 1994, and a Ph.D. degree from the Central South University, China, in 1997. He was a postdoctoral student at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (1999). He served as an Associate Professor at Shanghai University of Electric Power (1999), and as a Professor at the same university (2004). He also worked as a Doctor Advisor at Shanghai University (2006), and he has been serving as a Professor there since 2007. He worked as a Visiting Scientist in Max-Planck Institute for Iron Research (from September 2005 to February 2006, and from January to February 2007).
