Lisbeth Nilas was born in Copenhagen in 1954 and graduated with an M.D. degree from Copenhagen University in 1980 and as Specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology in 1991. Nilas has a part time consultancy at Department of obstetrics and gynaecology at Hvidovre Hospital, Denmark and serves part time as Director of the Institute of Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Paediatrics at the University of Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark. She received a Doctoral degree in 1991 (D.S. degree) for the thesis: "Assessment of the physiological bone loss in women, with special emphasis on the menopausal changes," and was appointed as Professor of gynaecological endocrinology at Copenhagen University in 2007. Nilas is Assessor at the Danish Medico-legal Council and Assisting Editor of Acta Obstet Gyn Scand. She has scientific experience within general gynaecology, obstetrics, and osteoporosis and is presently mainly interested in PCOS and obesity.
