Sergey B. Leonov

Sergey B. Leonov was born in Vesyegonsk, Tverskaya region, Russia, on May 16, 1958. He received the M.S. degree from Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia, in 1981, the Ph.D. degree in mechanics of gases and plasma from the Baltic State University, Saint Petersburg, Russia, in 1990, and the Dr.Sci. degree in physics and mathematics from the Joint Institute for High Temperature RAS, Moscow, in 2006. In 1981, he was with the Institute of Atomic Power Stations, where he worked in the field of diagnostics of fusion plasma. In 1985, he was with the State Research Institute of Aviation Systems as a Senior Scientist and worked in the field of plasma generation and gas dynamics. Since 1998, he has been Head of the laboratory and, since 2009, is Head of the department, Joint Institute for High Temperature, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow. The main subjects of his interest are experimental MHD and plasma aerodynamics, plasma-assisted combustion, plasma diagnostics, gas dynamics and aerodynamics, and weakly ionized plasma generation. He has over 180 publications. Dr. Leonov is an Associate Fellow of AIAA, IEEE Member.
