Yongsoon Shin

Yongsoon Shin was born in Jecheon (Chungbuk), Republic of Korea, in 1965. He received his chemistry B.S. degree from Chungbuk National University, Cheongju, Republic of Korea (summa cum laude) in 1988 and M.S. degree from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH, Republic of Korea, chemistry) in 1990. He received the Ph.D. degree from the University of Tennessee (chemistry), Knoxville, Tenn, USA, in 1999. From 1999 to 2001, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and became a Senior Research Scientist in 2002. He has mainly focused on the synthesis and functionalization of new types of ordered porous metal oxides and carbon materials for catalysis, drug release, and sensing. He was an invited speaker in American Chemical Society (ACS) National Meeting and Materials Research Society (MRS) Meeting. He is currently interested in the synthesis of graphene-based anode composite materials for Li-ion batteries.
