Leonid Khriachtchev

Leonid Khriachtchev graduated from the Leningrad State University, Saint Petersburg, Russia, in 1981. He completed his Ph.D. studies in quantumelectronics in 1986 and became a Senior Research Scientist and a Group Leader in 1988 at the Institute of Physics of the same university. In 1994, he joined the University of Helsinki, Helsinki, Finland, and he is now affiliated with the Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of this university. His research currently focuses on experimental optical and laser spectroscopy of solid-state systems including nanoscale materials. He is the author of about 200 peer-reviewed papers including several review articles. He is the Editor of the two books: Silicon Nanophotonics: Basic Principles, Present Status, and Perspectives (2008) and Physics and Chemistry at Low Temperatures (in press).
