Sergio Toral was born in Rabat, Morocco, in 1972. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Seville, Spain, in 1995 and 1999, respectively. He is currently a full Professor with the Department of Electronic Engineering, US. His main research interests include ad hoc networks and their routing protocols, deployment of wireless sensor networks, real-time and distributed systems, intelligent transportation systems, and embedded operating systems. He has published more than 60 papers in leading SCI source journals and more than 100 full referred conference papers. He has received 4 best paper awards, including 2010 Best Paper for the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2012 IET Electric Power Applications Premium Award, Best paper award 4th International Conference on Emerging Ubiquitous Systems and Pervasive Networks, EUSPN-2013, and Award from 6th Developments in eSystems Engineering conference (DeSE 2013). His h-index is 16 according to ReserachID and 10 according to Scopus. He is coauthor of 13 book chapters.
