Takashi Agui was born in Hadano, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan in 1956. He received the B.V.S., the M.V.S., and the Ph.D. degrees from the Hokkaido University, Japan in 1979, 1981, and 1984, respectively. From 1984 to 1989, Agui serves as a Visiting Fellow and Visiting Associate at the National Institute of Health, USA. From 1989 to 1992, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Tokushima University School of Medicine. From 1992 to 2002, he served as an Associate Professor at Nagoya City University School of Medicine. From 2002 to present, he is a Professor at School of Veterinary Medicine, Hokkaido University. He is mainly interested in laboratory animal science and medicine, and genetics in rodents. In 1999, he received Diploma of Japanese College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DJCLAM). From 2008 to 2009, he was an Ad Hoc Specialist of AAALAC International, and from 2009 to present, he is a Member of Council on Accreditation, AAALAC International. From 2004 to 2010, he was a Member of Board of Directors of Japanese Association of Laboratory Animal Science, from 2008 to present a Member of Board of Directors of Japanese Society of Veterinary Science, and from 2002 to present a Member of Board of Directors of Japanese Association of Laboratory Animal Medicine. From 2003 to 2008, he was an Editor of Journal of Veterinary Medical Science, from 2003 to 2005, he was an Editor-in-Chief of Japanese Journal of Veterinary Research (JJVR) and from 2009 to present, an Editor of JJVR. From 2010 to present, he is an Editor of Experimental Animals.
