Pek-Lan Khong is Professor of radiology and serves as the Head of Department of Diagnostic Radiology, The University of Hong Kong. She received her paediatric radiology training from The Birmingham Children's Hospital, UK, and Boston Children's Hospital, USA, after obtaining her specialist degree from the Royal College of Radiologists (F.R.C.R), UK. Subsequently, she completed her M.D. thesis at The University of Hong Kong. Her research interests in paediatric radiology include perinatal and neonatal imaging, paediatric neuroradiology, in particular, applications of advanced MR imaging modalities; diffusion-weighted imaging, diffusion tensor imaging, and magnetic resonance spectroscopy; and translational models of paediatric neurological diseases. Beyond paediatric radiology, Professor Khong's research interests are in clinical applications of PET-CT in oncological diseases and in radiological protection in medicine. She is an invited Member of the International Society of Strategic Studies in Radiology (ISSSR) and the International Committee of Radiological Protection (ICRP, committee 3). She is also on the Editorial Board of the journal Pediatric Radiology (official journal of the SPR, ESPR, and AOSPR) and the Hong Kong Journal of Radiology (official journal of the HKCR).
