I am research officer in Institute of Bioscience, one of center of exellence in Malaysia. My degree is in Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and my Master of Science in Medical Biotechnology.I have keen interest in cancer research. The research submittes is involved the study of potential rive bran phytic acid in reducing the development of neoplastic colonic lesion and changes changes in cell proliferation of Ki-67 and expression of ß-catenin and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in adenoma-carcinoma sequence. As for your information, phytic acid is one of the bioactive compounds that are being intensively studied to evaluate their effects on health. Rice bran is a by product in a rice milling process. Malaysia is one of the rice worlds producing and consuming country. Therefore, rice bran that is normally discarded as a by product of rice production will increase in value due to phytic acid potential as nutraceutical in the treatment of cancer. Additionally, making use of discarded materials is not only smart economics; it is a form of entrepreneurial recycling.
