Vincenzo Positano obtained his M.S. degree in electronic engineering from the University of Pisa in 1992. He subsequently carried out research on application of parallel computing to electromagnetic simulation at the same institution under a grant. He served as a Contract Researcher (equivalent to an Assistant Professor) at the Institute of Clinical Physiology in Pisa from 2000 until 2008, working on development of image analysis algorithms in MRI field. Subsequently, he joined the MRI Laboratory at the G. Monasterio Foundation in Pisa as the Lead Image-Processing Scientist in the area of cardiac MR imaging. His main research interests are in cardiovascular magnetic resonance image analysis and multimodal cardiac image fusion. He participated in several national and European projects, both funded by public and private bodies. He has edited a book, published about 80 journal papers in key international journals of his research fields and more than 200 book chapters and international conference abstracts. He presented his work at many conferences as IEEE-EMBS, SCMR, and ISMRM. He also acted as a Reviewer of key international journals.
