G. A. Nagana Gowda presently works as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, Seattle, Wash, USA. His research interests are focused on the interdisciplinary area of metabolomics emphasizing the understanding of altered metabolic pathways and early detection of diseases utilizing a combination of advanced analytical techniques of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. He received a B.S. degree in physics, chemistry, and mathematics in 1983 and an M.S. degree in analytical chemistry in 1985 from Mysore University, Mysore, India and a Ph.D. degree in NMR spectroscopy in 1999 from Bangalore University, Bangalore, India. He conducted his postdoctoral work at the State University of New York, Buffalo, NY, USA, from 1996 to 1998. He worked at the NMR Research Centre, Indian Institute Science, Bangalore, India, from 1986 to 2001. During the period from 2001 to 2006, he was a Faculty Member at the Centre of Biomedical Magnetic Resonance, Lucknow, India and a Research Scientist at the Department of Chemistry, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind, USA, before moving to the University of Washington.
