Wanling Yang received his medical education in China and research training in the US, and he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Ph.D. degree in pharmacology and bioinformatics. He did his postdoctoral training in South Carolina with John Hildebrandt and moved to Hong Kong in 2006 to work as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine as well as Centre for Genomic Sciences, The University of Hong Kong. His research is on genetics of complex diseases as well as single gene disorders and analysis of genetic and genomic data. One of his research areas is on association studies of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). He also works on single gene disorders using linkage analysis and next generation sequencing. He is interested in developing new methodologies to better analyze genetic and genomic data, to gain a better understanding of diseases.
