R. Prager

R. Prager was born in 1953, Vienna, Austria. He obtained his M.D. degree in 1976. In 1977-1978, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Vienna. Since 1978, he has been an Assistant Physician at the Second Medical Clinic of the University of Vienna, and since 1984, he has been serving as a Specialist in internal medicine. He was granted the postdoctoral lecturing qualification from the Department of Internal Medicine of the University of Vienna. He became a Professor of medicine at the Department of Internal Medicine III, the University of Vienna, in August 1993, and in 2000, he became the Head of the Third Medical Department, City Hospital Vienna-Lainz. Moreover, he is a Member of the Austrian Society of Physicians, Austrian Society of Internal Medicine, and the Board of the Austrian Diabetes Society. He serves also as the First Secretary of the Austrian Diabetes Society, President of the Austrian Diabetes Society during 1996-1997, and as a Member of the Austrian Society of Nephrology, American Diabetes Association, German Society of Diabetes, European Association for the Study of Diabetes. He received various awards for his premiering work such as Max Kade Award in 1984, Hoechst Award in 1986, Ferdinand Bertram Award of the German Diabetes Society in 1992, Billroth Award in 1992, and Hoechst Award in 1995. His research interests include diabetes, obesity, lipid disorders, endocrinology and nephrology.
