Christopher R. McCurdy
Christopher R. McCurdy earned his B.S. degree in pharmacy from Ohio Northern University, Ohio, USA (1994). He earned his Ph.D. degree in medicinal chemistry from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy, Athens, Ga, USA (1998). Dr. McCurdy completed three years of postdoctoral training under Distinguished Professor Philip S. Portoghese at the University of Minnesota. He joined the faculty at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy in 2001 and in 2004 was jointly appointed in the Department of Pharmacology. He currently serves as an Associate Professor and as a Codirector of the NIH Center for Research Excellence in Natural Products for Neurosciences, based in the School of Pharmacy. He has served as a Distinguished Teaching Scholar and was three times named teacher of the year. In addition, he served the American Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences as the Chair of the Drug Design and Discovery Section and currently serves as the Annual Meeting Chair for 2013. In 2007, he was recognized with the Outstanding Researcher Award and in 2010 received the prestigious University Faculty Achievement Award. He has also been funded in excess of $10 million from AACP, CDC, NIH, and NSF. His laboratory conducts research on treatments for pain, anxiety, depression, and drug addiction.
