Ritsu Yamamoto was born on October 20, 1953 in Japan. He holds the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees and studied at Hokkaido University School of Medicine from 1975 to 1981. He did his postdoctoral fellowship training in 1989-1991. Dr. Yamamoto worked at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pennsylvania University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pa, USA, and as an Associate Professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Hokkaido University Graduate School of Medicine in 2006. He is currently the Director of Rhythmic Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic. He has two patents: (1) process for detecting increased risk of fetal chromosomal abnormality and (2) prenatal detection of chromosomal abnormality. His research interests are in the area of treatment of peripheral lymphedema.
