Celso P. Pesce
Celso P. Pesce serves as a Professor in mechanical sciences from the Polytechnic University of Sao Paulo (EPUSP). He is a Chief Coeditor of the journal Marine and Ocean Technology Systems SOBENA and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, ASME (2007-2010). He worked as a Secretary of the Committee on Petroleum and Offshore Engineering of ABCM, Brazilian Association of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering. He held the positions of the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering EPUSP (2007-2011), the Coordinator of the Laboratory of Fluid-Structure Interaction and Mechanical Offshore, LIFE & MO, and the Representative of the USP with the Thematic Network on underwater structures, Petrobras. He coordinates R&D projects funded by CNPq, FINEP, PETROBRAS, Prysmian, Repsol, Chevron, and Navy of Brazil. He served as a Naval Engineer at the University of São Paulo in 1978, with emphasis on marine structures. He completed the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in naval and ocean engineering from USP, in 1984 and 1988, specializing in hydrodynamics of ocean systems. Pesce also served as an Associate Professor of mechanical engineering, USP, in 1997, IPT Engineer Researcher at the Institute of Technological Research of the ESP, in 1979-1989, a Fellow at the California Institute of Technology, in 1984-85, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Michigan in 1999.
