Eric G. Blackman

Eric G. Blackman received the B.S. degrees in physics and in mathematics from MIT in 1990. After completing the postgraduatuation Part III Math/Theoretical Physics Tripos program at Cambridge University in 1991, he went on to receive his Ph.D. degree in theoretical astrophysics from Harvard in 1995. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Cambridge and Caltech from 1995 to 1999, before joining the faculy of University of Rochester in 2000. Since 2004, he has been a Professor of physics and astronomy and a Senior Scientist at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics. He received the 2000-2003 Faculty Development Award Grant in Plasma Physics from the Department of Energy, and was elected fellow of the American Physical Society in 2005. His research spans a broad range of topics in theoretical astrophysics, often involving plasmas, magnetic fields, and gravitational hydrodynamics.
