Kevin C. Furman received the B.S. degree from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL, USA, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL, USA, all in computational science and engineering. Furman currently works as Supply Chain Optimization Team Leader at ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company. His areas of expertise are mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) (with both convex and nonconvex nonlinear terms), oil and gas industry applications of mathematical optimization, chemical process systems/chemical engineering-oriented applications of mathematical optimization (e.g., chemical process design and chemical process scheduling), maritime transportation/maritime logistics in oil and gas industry (e.g., crude oil, refinery products, and LNG shipping), and practical heuristics for large-scale routing and scheduling MIP problems (e.g., large neighborhood search).
