Nilgun Tokman graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey, in 1993 as a Chemical Engineer, and in 1996, she finished her M.S. degree. Tokman worked in oil industry as a Control and Research Engineer. She obtained her Ph.D. degree with a thesis entitled “Investigation of interference effects of some inorganic salts on bismuth and iron in graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry” from Istanbul Technical University in 1999. At the moment, she is working at The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, National Metrology Institute as a Senior Researcher. Her main research areas are analytical chemistry, atomic spectrometry, and liquid chromatography. She has 17 scientific publications in international journal, numerous presentations in national and international meeting, and a chapter in the book Food Toxicants Analysis Techniques, Strategies and Developments, edited by Yolanda Pico.
