Tsuneo Ishido earned his degree in geophysics at the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 1973, where he completed the experimental and theoretical studies on electrokinetic phenomena in rock-water systems in 1978. He joined the Geological Survey of Japan in 1978 and has been involved mainly in geothermal exploration and reservoir engineering studies. After retiring as Principal Research Scientist in 2009, he currently served as an Invited Research Scientist of the Geological Survey of Japan, AIST. Dr. Ishido has been active in research on the applications of electrokinetics to earth science. He received the Geothermal Resources Councils Special Achievement Award in 2003, and the Geothermal Resources Councils Pioneer Award in 2012.
