M. Eline Kooi
M. Eline Kooi serves as a Medical Physicist and Associate Professor at the Department of Radiology, Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC), Maastricht, The Netherlands. Before starting her university study, she was employed at the Department of Physical Chemistry of Shell Thornton Research in Thornton-le-Moors, UK, as a preuniversity student from 1989 to 1990. She received her M.S. degree in physics, in 1995, from the University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She performed her Ph.D. degree in molecular physics at the University of Amsterdam, and 2-month EC-fellowship at the Institute for Non-Linear Optics (LENS), Florence, Italy. After receiving her Ph.D. degree in molecular physics in 1999, she started her residency in medical physics in 1999 at the Department of Radiology, Medical Center, Maastricht University, and she became a Certified Medical Physicist and a Staff Member at this department in 2004. Her current research is focused on cardiovascular imaging and (fat) metabolism (e.g., (molecular) imaging of atherosclerosis and metabolic studies using MR spectroscopy). She has published 68 scientific publications in international journals and books. She has supervised 7 Ph.D. theses and is currently supervising 5 Ph.D. students and 2 postdoctorate students.
