Peter Odada Sumba Kenya Medical Research Institute, Centre for Global health and Research, Head of Department of Public Health and Biotechnology, Kisumu, Kenya. Odada P.Sumba was born in Kauma, Rachuonyo North District, Homa County in 1955. He dropped of school in 1963 after the death of his father but later continued with his primary education from1967 and completed in 1972. Skipped one year because of fees and continued a year later to complete the secondary school education 1977 at Gendia High School, Nyanza Province, Kenya. Joined the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Nairobi 1978 and graduated with Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology in 1981. Served as assistant lecturer in parasitology and medical entomology at Medical training college Nakuru. Specialized in Parasitology and medical Entomology, Nairobi University 1985-1986. Later studied Master of Public Health (international health) at the Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio (2002 -2004). PhD in geographical medicine (childhood cancer biology), Kenyatta University/SUNY Upstate Medical school (2005-2010). Currently senior medical research scientist at the Kenya medical research institute. He is also part time lecturer in environmental pollution, epidemiology of parasitic diseases, community health and nutrition epidemiology and diseases at Maseno University, Kenya.Interested in cancer biology, clinical nutrition and emerging chronic diseases.
