Cristina Costa was born in Turinm, Italy in 1969. He is currently a Resident Physician at the Virology Unit of the University Hospital San Giovanni Battista, Turin, Italy. She received the M.D. degree at the University of Turin, Turin, Italy and the Ph.D. degree in microbiology and genetics at the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy. Costa is a Member of the Italian Society Virology (SIV), Associazione Microbiologi Clinici Italiani (AMCLI), Italian Society Medical Virology (SIVIM), Italian Society Microbiology (SIM), Italian Society of Organ Transplantation (SITO), European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), and European Society of Virology (ESV). From 2004, she is working at the Virology Unit, University Hospital San Giovanni Battista, working on the virological diagnosis and viroimmunological monitoring in immunocompromised (transplant patients) and critically ill but immunocompetent patients. She teaches microbiology and clinical virology at the University of Turin. She is a teacher at Continuous Medical Education (CME) courses organized by the University Hospital San Giovanni Battista di Torino.
