Hideharu Abe received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the Kyoto University School of Medicine. He accomplished a residency training in the Department of Geriatric Medicine and Nephrology at Kyoto University Hospital and continued that training in the Department of Cardiology at Shizuoka Prefectural Hospital. He became a Principal Investigator in Molecular and Renal Pathology Laboratory at Research Institute for Production Development (Kyoto, Japan) between 2004 and 2008. Since 2008, he is the Lecturer at the University of Tokushima. He serves currently as an Associate Professor at the Department of Nephrology at the University of Tokushima. Abe serves also as an Associate Professor at the Department of Clinical Laboratory, Tokushima University Hospital. His main recent scientific interests are related to the pathophysiology and treatment of diabetic nephropathy with emphasis on the molecular diagnosis using urinary biomarkers.
