Øivind Bergh is Principal Scientist at the Institute of Marine Research (IMR), Norway, and Adjunct Professor in Fish Health at the Department of Biology, University of Bergen, Norway. He holds a Dr. scient degree in general microbiology from the University of Bergen, 1996. Bergh has about 80 peer-reviewed publications covering various aspects of fish health (with emphasis on early life stages of marine organisms), interactions between aquaculture and the environment, and ecological microbiology. Bergh has held various positions at the Institute of Marine Research since 1994, including Program Manager (1998-2003) and Head of the Fish Health Research Group of IMR (2004-2008). Since 2010, he has been Coordinator of the EU FRP7 project CoExist-Interaction in coastal waters: A roadmap to sustainable integration of aquaculture and fisheries (www.coexistproject.eu).
